Staying Active in Isolation

Adjustments.jpeg

This quarantine makes it harder for everyone to stay active as our normal daily task have went down quite a bit...

So how can we still be active an not all transform into couch potatoes?

1. Home Workout: Gyms are closed but you do not need any equipment to do an effective workout. Use your imagination look around yourself, anything can be used for resistance. I also suggest that you train in the morning as it will give you energy and motivation for the rest of the day

2. Enjoy the Outdoors: If parks and trail are open and accessible where you live I highly suggest that you use them. Go for walks, enjoy the sun and breath the fresh air. Going for a hike is also a great way to burn some extra calories compared to a walk around the block!

3. Running: Nobody is born runner. Start short and slow them built yourself up. Progressing as a runner is very rewarding and motivating. Try to download an app that will couch you like:

  • - Couch to 5K Runner

  • - Couch to 10K Runner

  • - Zombies, Run! (This one is super fun, look it up!)

4. 10,000 Steps: Focusing on getting in 10,000 steps a day is also a great way to measure your level of activity. A lot of us do not realize how important and how much of a difference walking makes on a day to day basis. I personally track my step with my Fitbit Iconic which I LOVE. It is been on my wrist for over 2 and a half years now! (Link above)
